Doug Law is an Aviation Safety Inspector and Product Policy Advisor in the FAA’s Aviation Safety Policy and Standards Division. He is responsible for ensuring alignment with the strategic direction during the development of Part 21 regulations, national directives, policy, procedures, and advisory material pertaining to for the approval of FAA approved articles to include Technical Standard Orders (TSOs) and Parts Manufacturer Approvals (PMAs). Most recently he has participated in FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committees (ARCs) such as the recent Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) tasked with developing recommendations for ensuring that operators and maintenance personnel have complete, up-to-date, and consistent ICA to maintain the airworthiness of aircraft, engines, and propellers, and installed articles.

Prior to becoming a policy advisor, he was the FAAs subject matter expert for the Technical Standard Order (TSO) policy and guidance dating back to 2008 where among other significant policy achievements he led the reciprocal acceptance of TSO articles with FAA bilateral partners and currently working to modernize TSOs to support the safety continuum, improving international alignment, and enhancing responsiveness to technical change.

Prior to joining the FAA he worked for United Airlines in maintenance and engineering for 22+ years, where he held positions of mechanic, maintenance supervisor, fleet engineer, lead fleet engineer and Boeing 737 fleet engineering manager.
