China’s Big 3 Airlines expands aircraft leasing business through their own leasing arms

China Eastern Airlines Financial Leasing Co.,LTD(CEAFL), the leasing arm of China Eastern Airlines, has successfully delivered a new B737-87L airplane to Shenzhen Airlines via a special purpose vehicle registered in Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone in Tianjin, China, which is a milestone event for CEFL as it’s CEFL’s first aircraft to be leased outside of China Eastern Airlines Group. CEFL has 64 aircrafts in its current fleet.

A brand-new airbus A321 airplane, owned by China Southern Airlines Financial Leasing Co.,LTD(CSAFL), landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on May 5, which marks the official openning of CSAFL. The aircraft will be delivered to CSAFL’s parant company China Southern Airlines.

CSAFL was founded by China Southern Airlines Group at the end of 2016, registered in Guangzhou Nansha Free Trade Zone, aiming to optimize aircraft financing structure, improve financing capabilities as well as to minimize the aircraft acquisition cost for China Southern Airlines.

it is worth mentioning that Air China Group had also set up its own leasing arm, Air China(Beijing) Financial Leasing Co.,LTD(ACFL), back in 2015, registered in Beijing Tianzhu Free Trade Zone. Since then, ACFL has competed the financial leasing transactions of 747-800 simulators, several spare engine lease transactions, and are exploring aircraft lease business aggresively.
